I’ve heard Asilomar is “rustic.” How rustic is it?
Asilomar began as a YWCA camp in 1913, designed by acclaimed arts and crafts architect, Julia Morgan. Several of the original buildings are still there, renovated, and are called “historic” housing. In recent years Asilomar has added all the amenities of a nice hotel, so rustic really refers to the grounds themselves and the charm of the beautiful arts and crafts buildings.

Why do I have to register twice?
The first is for conference registration, which covers the costs of speakers, musicians, workshops, materials, etc. The second registration is for your meals and lodging, directly through Asilomar. Rooms are limited, so be sure and book Asilomar housing soon.

Why is it so expensive to go to Asilomar?
The truth is, it’s not that expensive when you think about it. To get a week’s comfortable, ocean access lodging, three great meals a day, and all the entertainment and spiritual nourishment you can hold, it’s really quite a bargain.

Should I attend everything? How should I pick what to go to?
There is so much to do at Asilomar, and since it is a retreat, we suggest that you build in time for rest and rejuvenation. Get familiar with your program guide for the week. Then every morning, look through the offerings and see what resonates with you. That way you’ll be most likely to get what your soul needs for the day.
